When there are several kits in a classroom, the teacher cannot manage them all
by himself or herself. Student managers are needed. Fortunately, there is more
than just work involved: students learn responsibility, and they make a valued
contribution to classroom life. The teacher sets up the kits, trains students
in managing them, and meets with students periodically to evaluate the managing.
The teacher should not be reluctant to assign chores. There are many chores necessary for maintaining a neat classroom - bookshelves, sink, closet(s), art materials, whiteboard, counters, science materials, paper supplies, floor, etc., as well as kits.. A chart can be posted of the assignments. Hold a meeting at the end of the day to evaluate the condition of the classroom.
